Wow.
May 23, 2008

Sometimes words fail me. So I’ll use the words of my colleague Brooke Adams, who wrote this for The Salt Lake Tribune:
A single photograph introduced in court Friday could define Texas’ case against a polygamous sect: FLDS leader Warren S. Jeffs cradling a 12-year-old girl in his arms and kissing her, a state attorney said, “how a husband would kiss a wife.”

NOTE: The Salt Lake Tribune blurred the girl’s face.
ONE MORE THING: Thanks to my dad for cracking open the .MDI file that the photos came to me in. Microsoft, what are you thinking with all of your closed file formats?

Got something to say?

Ok. That’s definitely wrong. Warren Jeffs is flat out wrong to have done that. It’s sickening.
BUT that does NOT mean that all of the other families did that.
It looks like CPS played this card to inflame the public and justify their actions against the entire community of FLDS families. Now it will be splashed across papers and TV’s and will bolster their case for kidnapping all of the children. Nancy Dis-Grace will have a heyday with it. I’m enraged and disgusted with Texas CPS.
Leaders lead and followers follow. I think it is a bit naive to say only Warren Jeffs would do such and others in the FLDS would not.
Were these some of the “photographs of Warren Jeffs” that are reputed to have lined the walls at the YFZ compound!? If so, that’s some heavy duty propaganda, for any tween girl who might see them and be told to aspire to such a “heavenly” marriage!
